If you have any odd jobs around the house that require fixing then give me a call. You may not have the time or the appropriate tools - I can help. From fitting a door handle to hanging a door and everything in between: light not working; fitting a security light; small repairs to furniture, from a wobbly chair to a collapsed bed.
If you live remotely to East Lothian and are fortunate enough to have a holiday home here I am happy to service it for you, from checking that everything is secure and tied down to ensuring the home is in tip-top condition prior to new guests arriving. From small maintenance tasks to large jobs I would be happy to organise these for you.
Garden clearance, grass cutting service, pruning, weeding and planting. Whatever you require in the garden just ask as long it is not design!
I would be happy to project manage a small or large task in terms of organising/overseeing/supervising contractors/tradesmen/builders from the beginning of the task through to completion; from installation of a new kitchen to a large extension to your premises.
I am not a decorator but can paint, internally or externally. Anything that needs freshened up or sanded down and repainted let me know; from a door to the entire outside of your home.
Gutter clearing for houses or bungalows - I'm sorry I do not do flats.
If you require a shed or a garage repaired or a fence mended let me know. I can also turn wood on my lathe if you have a project that requires that service.
From repair or replacing grout to a complete tiling project.
I am an experienced maintenance engineer. I worked for 10 years (2008-2018) as Head of Maintenance in a large computer data centre, so am competent in most basic DIY skills as we were first in line for dealing with the fabric of the building, electrical or mechanical issues arising and interfacing with specialist maintenance contractors. I therefore know all about health and safety, risk analysis etc. I have also Project Managed fairly large assignments. I was made redundant due to a takeover of the company so have now branched out on my own.
I have been building things for about 25 years (see photos for a couple of examples). One is a block built tool-shed, with both electricity and a water supply, in my back garden. The other was changing an existing conservatory into a summer room in my house by bricking up one of the sides and putting a proper roof on it. I completed both projects alone from laying the foundations, the brickwork and the electrical work.
"Kenny fixed my late father's old antique oak chair by turning new spindles for it, making good its weak joints then waxing and polishing it. He also cleared a large area of overgrown ivy that had taken over an orchard of apple trees. We were very happy with his skilful work, and thoroughly recommend him."
"I asked Kenny to re-grout my shower. After starting it became evident to Kenny that I had some damp plasterboard behind, so he removed the tiles, cut out the defective board, replaced it and re-tiled. The job was carried out well and finished quickly. The difference you get with someone like Kenny is that he could have easily just re-grouted but knew exactly what was needed for it to be undertaken properly. – and he just did it!
"Kenny also replaced some rotten timber at the base of my conservatory. Another good job!"
"I have no hesitation in recommending Kenny. He is very trustworthy, diligent and will do a good job. If its not in his skill-set I am confident that he will tell you!"
"I'm not the most handy guy in the world when it comes to DIY, so Kenny has become our go-to guy for all of those DIY jobs that we otherwise just never get around to. Most importantly for us when dealing with contractors, he is reasonable and reliable."
